Synopsis: The long-awaited (and delayed) big-screen adaptation of one of Marvel Comics’ most beloved stories sees the mighty Thor (Hemsworth) condemned by his father (Hopkins) to a punishment of ... life on Earth. It is there that he meets and falls for a beautiful scientist (Portman) -- and is forced to become a humanity-saving hero.
Our Take: We have some reservations about Marvel putting the keys to Thor in Branagh’s hands (his directorial resume consists almost exclusively of literary adaptations), but the trailer looks nothing short of spectacular and, perhaps even more promising, very un-Branagh. It’s the first “summer movie” of the year, meaning (male) moviegoers’ sheer adrenaline won’t require an unprecedented masterpiece.
