Bheja Fry 2 Movie Review
Story: Bharat Bhushan (Vinay Pathak), the nerd of Bheja Fry 1 returns with all his irritating quirks. This time, he has won himself a free trip on a luxury cruise and is determined to rock the boat for most of the revelers, specially the tax evader, tycoon Kay Kay Menon. In between, he manages to find a potential love interest in Minisha Lamba... at least that's what he thinks. Movie Review: First things first: you do end up a few shades disappointed with the sequel, specially since the first part was such a scintillating act. The humour is laid back, the laughs are too few and far between and the tango between Vinay Pathak and Kay Kay Menon lacks the chemistry that crackled between Pathak and Rajat Kapoor in part one.
But give yourself a little time and let the characters take shape. It won't be long before you realize that Bharat Bhushan is still the nicest fool in the world. His stupidity still has an endearing quality to it as he tries his best to make the world a better place for everybody, unmindful of the barbs and the ridicule that comes his way. His antics, both on the ship and off it do induce a chuckle and a smile as the world writes him off as the proverbial loser. But zeroes, in Bollywood parlance often end up as heroes, specially if they stand up for the right.
Bheja Fry 2 also has an additional factor to add to the mayhem: Amole Gupte as the mad RD Burman fan, who prefers to lead a savage existence with his antiquated radio and his RD golden oldies. Watch out for an interesting cameo by Gupte who is creating a niche for himself as an actor of import.

'Bheja Fry 2', directed by Sagar Bellary, is a disappointing and not-so-funny follow-up to the original 2007 comedy.The laughs are fewer, the jokes less funny, and the set-up entirely familiar.I'm going with one-and-a-half out of five for 'Bheja Fry 2'. The original film, although entirely plagiarized, had a charming innocence to complement its outrageous humor. This one is dead dull, and a total waste of two precious hours.

Regrettably, BHEJA FRY 2 doesn't really reach there for varied reasons...One, the substance is lacking. Two, the hilarity quotient is lower than expected. Three, ideally, BHEJA FRY 2 should've had loads of uproarious moments and witty one-liners, but barring a few individualistic sequences, it lacks the bite to keep you enthralled and entertained. On the whole, BHEJA FRY 2 rides on a triumphant brand, but one expects a laudable follow up in terms of hilarity and entertainment. Where the film required an overall evolution, it remains a recycled version of its predecessor, barely going anywhere relying hands-off on Pathak's poorly timed futility. Bheja Fry 2 relies on forced material which defies logic making the story mind-numbing. Apart from being pathetically foreseeable, the story even reaches stagnation at one point. At its best, Bheja Fry 2 is an unexceptional monsoon mad-caper attempting to entertain with its witlessness and idiocy posing as heroic and humorous. At times, the film appears like a forcefully enacted stage play with annoying characters.

Bheja Fry 2" does not have the innocent charm of the first part. Mainly because the surprise element of the first is gone and also because unlike in the original, which was a copy, the makers have had to put their thinking cap on. Thus while the original seemed immaculate in its conception, this one jars more than once during it over two hour duration.Unwittingly thus, "Bheja Fry 2" becomes a metaphor for what is wrong with popular Indian comedy today, unlike the comedies of the 1960s and 1970s: lack of fresh ideas and creative talents with the sense and timing enough to execute it.

Director Sagar Ballary has got it all wrong here. It seems the film was made just to cash in on the success of BHEJA FRY, without using any 'bheja'. Apart from M.T. Shekharan and Bharat Bhushan mocking each other, all the gags fall flat on their face. The flow of the film is depressingly slow as you wait for something exciting to happen, only to be disappointed. BHEJA FRY 2 makes your bheja ache. Not funny!

Bheja Fry 1 was never original but it was refreshingly and charmingly idiosyncratic, amping up Vinay Pathak's eccentricities. Yes, Bharat Bhushan, his character, is somewhat funny even here. But it's all too much of been there, seen that. The loser becomes a winner in a reality show. The setting has changed from a Mumbai flat to a cruise ship. And the glamour girl is Minissha Lamba. But it's a film that tries too hard to make Bharat Bhushan loveable. He's not, even if he's chubby, laughs like Akshay Kumar, and insists on being earnest.Highly avoidable.

It is an extension of part one, a sequel that’s not bad. However, ‘Bheja Fry 2’ fails to match the audience expectation to some extent, thanks to the benchmark that was set with the first instalment. 'Bheja Fry 2' delivers great performances from Vinay Pathak as well as Kay Kay Menon with impressive dialogues. Though story turns out to be a bit stretched and predictable in the second half. The movie appears to be a one-time watch!
