Phhir (2011) : Movie Review

Phhir Movie ReviewRating: 2/5 Ratings:2/5 Reviewer:Taran Adarsh Site: BollywoodHungama

On the whole, PHHIR has some exciting moments, but a weak finale lets it down completely. Phir has an interesting plot on hand this time in fact, you get sucked into the world of the principal characters at the outset and Phhir succeeds in making you curious and inquisitive with each passing incident. But Dhamija blows up everything towards the finale -- when the suspense unfolds. I mean, it turns out to be one of those typical movie endings, a tried-and-tested shortcut that evaporates all the hard work that the director had invested in building up the suspense so beautifully...

Some films, despite having common story lines, can keep their audience glued to the screen from start to end Phhir is one such film, revolving around reincarnation and the paranormal. Phhir moves ahead at a consistent pace. Though the suspense is predictable, the audience is kept entertained throughout. It has been shot at interesting locales as well. The music is passable and doesn't really do the movie much good.Leave your brains home, and watch this film...

From the word go, the film plunges you into an abysmal labyrinth of monotony. Not for even one moment does Phhir have anything original to offer and instead saps out the entire energy out of your system. The storyline is highly predictable, the performance dismal and sitting through the one hour and forty five minutes of the film almost makes you want to laugh out loud at every so-called twist and turn in the plot..

While the story of Phhir is all right, its screenplay leaves a huge room for improvement. The thriller elements should have been detailed further to heighten the sense of suspense and drama in the film. You need real craftsmanship for this, which is, sadly and obviously, missing here. Though the scenes flow logically and seamlessly, they fail to generate the nail biting thrills and chills that are hallmarks of the genre. We give three stars - one star for the Phhir's photography and production design, one for its direction and editing and one for its excellent performances...

A racy screenplay, good editing and decent cinematography are the high points of the film. Extremely dragged second half, in terms of direction, dialogues and non-impressive music, are the drawbacks.Overall, ‘Phhir’ is a flick, which can be easily given a miss.Visit Site for more..
